The thinking of party leaders is that Mr. Hernandez would stay in the race if he won the nomination, running interference for Ms. Lake. “They’re not even trying to cover their tracks at this point,” Cody Hannah, a co-chair of the Arizona Green Party, said in an interview on Friday. We know they aren’t genuine Greens.”Efforts to reach Mr. Norton and Mr. Hernandez were not immediately successful. It is up to the six-member elections commission, evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, to decide whether there are sufficient signatures to trigger the recall election. Recall organizers said they submitted nearly 11,000 signatures to the Wisconsin Elections Commission on Monday. But after an initial review of those signatures, commission staff said there were 9,053 potentially valid signatures. Only 3,364 signatures collected are in the new Assembly district that Vos resides in, which would also fall short of the total needed. If a petition is determined to be sufficient, a recall election must be called for six weeks later.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A federal judge in North Dakota has denied a request from supporters of congressional age limits to temporarily allow out-of-state petition circulators as they seek to advance their proposed ballot measure. The measure's backers sued over state constitutional provisions and laws that require that initiative petition circulators be North Dakota residents. Out-of-state petition circulators are currently subject to misdemeanor penalties of up to nearly a year’s imprisonment, a $3,000 fine, or both. Measure supporters want to use out-of-state petition circulators to help gather more than 31,000 signatures of valid North Dakota voters by a February deadline to prompt a June 2024 vote.
